Women & Creativity 2011

This week kicks off the Women & Creativity 2011 festival, featuring 5 weeks of exhibitions, talks, performances and workshops organized by the National Hispanic Cultural Center and Creative Albuquerque. Tonight, Friday night, is the Opening Reception from 5-7 PM at Creative Albuquerque with several other events happening around town this weekend, including Saturday classes to introduce you to knitting or for beginning embroidery, a Carnaval Celebration dance performance at the National Hispanic Cultural Center on Saturday, and a free Adventures in Science: Crazy About Chromatography hands-on activity for children in grades 3-5 between 2 to 3PM on Sunday at the ¡Explora!.

National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show

It’s time to bring on the heat with the 23rd Annual Fiery Foods Show kicking off today at the Sandia Resort and Casino.  Enjoy food samples and cooking demonstrations from over 100 vendors and exhibitors. And just in case you love commercials, here is the promo for this year’s event: 

UNM Men’s Basketball

There is nothing quite like a rowdy, rocking Pit, and that’s what you can expect Saturday when the UNM Men’s Basketball team take on Air Force at 4 PM. Coming off of a huge win against nationally ranked BYU (#3), expect some exciting action on the court during the last home game of the season. Go Lobos!
