It’s coming up Flowers this weekend: Xeriscape Conferences, Gourd Art, Steel Magnolias…


Just in time for the warmer weather, here is a conference t0 help you turn your brown green without needing a second job to pay for the water bill.  This Saturday and Sunday, Expo New Mexico will host the 2011 Water Conservation & Xeriscaping Expo with more than 250 exhibitors along with free seminars for attendees.  And while you’re there, check out the 6th Annual Celebration of Gourds for some of the coolest, funkiest gourd art around. If you’re feeling creative, you can also snag supplies and take classes.  Sat 9:30AM – 6 PM, Sun 10AM – 5PM. Free entry; $4 parking fee.

Wanting to get in touch with your feminine side or score some really big points? Head on over to the Albuquerque Little Theater for a live performance of Steel Magnolias.  Tonight is opening night with performances continuing through March 13.  Buy tickets online $10-$22.

By the way, the theater is also hosting the always-fun Oscar Night Party with the Oscars shown live on the big screen this Sunday, Feb. 27. $10-$35
